FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE FIRST SESSION?
The first appointment is a consultation where we will discuss what brings you to therapy at this point in time, to hear about your concerns and any symptoms you are struggling with.
I will take more thorough details from you about you and any relevant background information that would help with understanding your presenting issue. We will begin identifying the focus for our work and define specific goals to aim for. It may take a couple of sessions to explore and gain more clarity about what it is that you would like to take away from this.
We will also begin discussing the timeline for your therapy sessions, taking into account any preference you may have regarding the limited or open-ended therapy options.
HOW FREQUENT WILL MY SESSIONS BE?
Sessions are typically held on weekly basis, on the same day and time each week.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
This will be discussed on an individual basis during your consultation and will depend on the issue you are looking to work on through therapy. It may change depending on how our work develops and whether you want to go deeper into your inner processes.
In general, short to mid term counselling would typically consist of 8 to 16 sessions focusing on a specific issue you are grappling with, longer term work would continue beyond this and would involve a more in-depth approach.
